Applied research project: “design-oriented perspectives to innovate the vending system, applied to beverages, in terms of active interaction with the user, safety and sustainability”.

Financed by: Elettrotecnica Rold srl, Fluidotech srl, Componenti Vending SpA – Research Contract Fondazione Politecnico di Milano

Scientific responsible: Stefania Palmieri

The main objective of the research work is to identify new project solutions for an innovative “vending machine” that is on the market with new values. In particular, some of the contents that are tackled are: new interactions and man/machine relationship, human factors, (along the whole vending product supply chain and life cycle); new interfaces, usability and symbology; human factor: proxemics and ergonomic factors; experience/emotional design; new semantics.

Vending machines are emotional and sensitive scenarios that tend to represent spaces that are more real and experienced by users, therefore it will be necessary to analyse the emotional/perceptive aspects of the display system with particular attention to the contexts of use in relation to new possible areas of application.
